It’s Easter weekend, which means an abundance of chocolate is going to be consumed over the next few days, and a lot of it will probably be Cadbury’s.
From Mini Eggs to Creme Eggs, the famous brand has a whole host of tasty seasonal treats on supermarket shelves at this time of year.
But if you’ve been on social media lately, you might have seen some fans claiming that Cadbury has made a major ‘change’ to its Easter eggs this year — specifically to the packaging.
A number of chocolate lovers have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share their outrage over Cadbury supposedly removing the word ‘Easter’ from Easter egg boxes.
But, before you gasp in horror, this actually isn’t the case.

Numerous posts have been shared on X with pictures of supermarket shelves lined with Cadbury Easter eggs. These are captioned with questions such as this one from Tim Davies, asking: ‘Can anyone see the word EASTER on these EASTER eggs? Am I going blind ffs??!!’
Similarly, @OJR_RSLI_Rtired said: ‘Why have you not got Easter on your eggs? It’s Easter!!’ And Gemma Hull wrote: ‘@CadburyUK is it true you have removed the word Easter from all your eggs?’
But, if you take a closer look at the images, you’ll be able to see where people have gone wrong.
All of the snaps show only the front of the Easter egg boxes, and it’s true that most of them don’t mention Easter there specifically.
However, if they were to look at the top of the boxes, they’d see that the packaging is clearly printed with the message: ‘Happy Easter’.

The official Cadbury UK account on X reassured Brits that that they’ve been using the word ‘Easter’ for the last 100 years and intend to keep on doing so.
A spokesperson said: ‘Rest assured that all Cadbury Easter Eggs sold in the UK reference Easter very clearly on the packaging.
‘Cadbury has used the word Easter in our marketing and communications for over 100 years and we continue to do so across our Easter product range.’
So there you have it, no need to freak out folks.
That said, some chocolate fans won’t be happy about another bit of news that was shared this week, as it was revealed the dark chocolate Toblerone bar has been discontinued.
Mondelēz International, the company behind the sweet treat, confirmed the decision to axe the 360g bars had been made.
‘We continuously adapt our product range to ensure it meets changing tastes whilst supporting growth for our customers and business, and as a result, made the difficult decision to discontinue our Toblerone Dark (360g) bars in the UK,’ a spokesperson for Mondelēz told Metro.
‘While we understand that this may be disappointing for some consumers, we continue to invest in Toblerone.
‘New for this Easter, we’ve launched our Toblerone Edgy Egg with Truffles, while we continue to offer an array of delicious Toblerone bars and Truffles to be enjoyed with family and friends.’
They added that fans should keep their ‘eyes peeled’ for future announcements, as the brand has an ‘exciting pipeline of innovation ahead.’
